July 6th, 7th, 8th,  2021

   

9:30 am to 4:30 pm Daily

3 days

 

Camp #1 is geared for those in the beginning stages of their

horsemanship. They can expect to learn:

 

Level 1/2

  1. Approach & retreat without horse moving

  2. Put the halter on correctly and tie the correct knot

  3. Clean all four feet

  4. Confident with carrot stick and string

  5. Moves horse without opposition reflex - steady pressure & rhythmic pressure

  6. Back your horse away from you and bring him back

  7. Circle your horse in both directions, HQ yield is effective

  8. Lateral flexion on both sides

  9. Ride bareback at a walk

  10. Emergency dismount

  11. Knows basic tack

  12. Knows parts of the horse

Hoofbeats & Heartbeats
Camp #2

July 13th, 14th, 15th, 2021    

 

9:30 am to 4:30 pm Daily

3 days

 

Camp #2 is aimed towards riders in their second year of horsemanship, they must confidently show me all the stages of level 1/2. They can expect to learn:

 

Level 2/3

  1. Confident in all tasks in Level 1/2

  2. Move your horse sideways along a fence

  3. Send horse between you and an object

  4. Send your horse over a small jump

  5. Horse is confident with a flag or plastic bag

  6. Horse follows you forward, stops and backs without touching

  7. While sending in a circle, change directions at the walk without stopping

  8. Back your horse straight 20’

  9. Ride horse sideways along a fence

  10. Show vertical flexion

  11. Ride bareback at a trot

  12. Smoothly perform the 4 quarters

Camp #3

July 20th, 21st, 22nd, 2021

   

9:30 am to 4:30 pm Daily

3 days

 

Camp #3 is geared to riders over 15yrs of age or advanced

in their horsemanship, they must confidently show me all the

stages of level 1/2/3. They can expect to learn:

 

Level 3/4

  1. Confident in all tasks in Level 1/2/3

  2. Smoothly perform the 4 quarters with speed

  3. Back your horse through a gate

  4. Load your horse into a horse trailer without stepping into the trailer

  5. Ride bareback at a canter

  6. Ride horse sideways in the middle of an open area

  7. Lead your horse by the front leg

  8. Back your horse over a pole or log

  9. While sending the horse in a circle, change directions at the trot without stopping
